Black Star Built is a carpentry business based in Newport, working across Melbourne's inner west and inner north. We work with homeowners on the smaller, detail-driven projects that builders tend to pass on; heritage carpentry work, outdoor living structures and building performance upgrades. Built out of Melbourne's west, a place defined by grit, heritage and change, we bring that same character to every job. Process

Before any work begins, we scope the job properly. That means a site visit, a follow-up conversation to confirm we're the right fit, and a written quote with a detailed scope of works outlining exactly what's included and what isn't. You'll know precisely what you're getting before you commit.

  • We take the time to understand the project properly before anything is agreed. Early involvement means better scoping, fewer surprises and a quote that reflects the actual job and not just rough guess.

  • Once a job is underway, it's managed tightly. Sequencing, materials and site conditions are all accounted for in advance; not figured out on the day. You'll be updated at key stages, and variations are documented in writing if scope changes.

  • Every job is walked through and signed off before we're done. The site is left clean, the work is finished to standard and you're not left chasing anything up afterwards.
